Awesome song outback Australia will never be truly concerd
conquered.
Milton and Christina Jones 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Who actually sings this song?
Lee Kernaghan
Hey Adrian, great videos. Currently looking at a 988B for similar work, so it’s good to have an example of what they can do. What sort of fuel consumption would you get in a full days work ? 400-500 litres ? Thanks
G'day tyrone. Thi old girl use about 45-50 litres/hour digging virgin hard ground, hauling it up out of the hole, dumping and packing the bank. The tourqe converter i getting a bit tired a well so he do better with an overhaul.

Great bush trick mate, I never knew strychnine could be used for anything other than dog and emu stiffening.
Great setup mate thanks for showing it on the video. I did some barb and Gidgee fencing for a bloke near Charleville. We drilled holes through the posts but the only drillbit that would go through was an Australian made Supacut. Wish we could have convinced him to slot the posts like you blokes do. Drilling the holes took ages. Anyway mate all the best
Yes ..... we used to bore the holes but have found slotting them to be just as effective and 10 times faster. With this method and setup, the 3 of us each each day : cut the posts, cart them to the fenceline, lay out the posts, sight each hole, stand the posts, strian up the wires, tie off and hang the droppers. We could do 0.5 km/day.
Thanks for taking the time and effort to film the work and put it on UA-cam mate, there are lots of people out there like me who are genuinely interested and appreciative.
Cómo se llama la canción
This was the theme song for the troy dann show great song
Outback Adventures.
I wonder did he get that lasso on the first try.
Haha...Nope.....we had a lot of misses. Neither of us had roped before.
@@adrianjos04 I thought so
Excellent video Adrian, your doing it the fun way LOL, we used to use motorbikes and a calf crush which was a lot easier but no where near as much excitement !!! Keep posting videos please mate, I'm so jealous
Thanks Don. We normally use the calf cradle but since it was only a small number of calves thoughtwe would try a bit of old school fun.
What a fantastic video. Love the perspective and the demonstration of power of the 988B.
G’day mate thanks for the video, top looking fence, good job.
Hi Adrian, don't you just love the power of the old girl !!! I miss that so much, it used to be one of my favorite jobs clearing fencelines with my old girl but i had a 26 foot stick rake, which made it a bit easier. Ill find some pics and send you if you like ? I sold my first 988B when i sold my blocks but bought another 988B frm a powerstation in WA in anticipation of buying another block somewhere, but so far haven't found anything in my price range. Love the videos mate, brings back great memories, Thanks
G'day Don Yes she takes no prisoners with all that weight and power. A stickrake is just what I need for the fencelines......would make the job a lot faster.
Gday Mate, good to see the old girl still running sweet. You should put out longer video, I for one love watching the 988, not to mention how good she sounds
No worries Don.....will post some more up soon
You wouldn't happen to have the rest of the soundtrack by any chance?
So Bloody Sad, I hope things have improved for you now ?
Thanks for the thoughts.... yes our property has recovered from the drought. But the drought is still raging on for a lot of people on the land.
Good to see commonsense prevails
Sad to see such desperate times
Marvellous what you can discover when you look at nature, great idea mate
Looks like Gods country
Yes its very good when the seasons are kind.
Beautiful old machine, if you get a cardboard template of your front window and take it to a glass place they will cut a new window for you, thats what i had to do when i smashed mine. Great video and music
Thats a good idea....I will do that thanks.
you should never run without outer air cleaner otherwise you risk clogging up your inner filter and dusting your engine, especially in the outback with all that red dust
I'm on my second 988B and they usually run pretty warm, see how much red dust you got from your air filter, if you blow your radiator cores out with air you will find them clogged up also which will cause overtemps. They are a beautiful old machine
Thanks for that info Don .... I put 2 new thermostats, new set of fanbelts and new CAT coolant in it and temps seem to be pretty stable now. I think the biggest difference was the old thermostats were tired and didn't open till almost 93°cels when I put them in a pot of hot water on the stove.
@@adrianjos04 Hi Adrian I'm pleased to hear you fixed it, I love my old girl. My radiator was clogged with red dust and I put too many 20litre drums of coolant in it also, but then she ran like a dream. i'm very happy to hear your area is recovering from the draught, I used to have sheep station outback NSW near Cobar, wish I still had it
OK but we have on that is very similar and that is what Dad told me but I will ask him again about the middle peddle.
You know that when you put your foot on the brake it automatically puts the clutch in so you weren't working it you were just revving it.
It has three peddles. Far right : accelerator Middle : brake peddle Far left : brake/clutch I was using the middle brake peddle while reving it so as to get the touque converter to warm up. Its a test to see if the touque converter is causing the engine temps to go up.
The sky was very interesting uncle Fred.
I really like the setting there with the Acacia and the Eucalyptus. An aerial sketch of the aria would also be useful for an overall image of the zone.
Great imagery. Just saw it on The Outback Club's Facebook page
I use a frontend loader tractor. I angle the bucket at about 45°, dig into the ground about 6 inches deep, drive forwards and lift the bucket at the same time. Keep driving fowards trough the hole & Spread the dirt in front of the tractor about 4 inches deep ( it makes a good seed bed ) Dig the next hole and repeat the process. This method is very forgiving, it doesnt matter much which way the hole is left facing and no need to do it perfectly on contour.
The next question would be, which method do you have available to make the catchments, for the least amount of work, to do the most good? How much can you do in a season? And how accessible must the area be? One way is with a light plow, on contour, with mini or micro swales. Another is using a large auger, to drill holes about 15 cm deep in a grid or hexagon pattern. Just enough to catch some water and let it soak in. I'm super interested in what you decide to do. Please update us on your projects. :)
Cool!!
Ponies & Poddies!! Livin' the dream!!
